How to Better Manage your Time as a VA

Did you know that time management and delegation are two of the biggest struggles that business owners have?

It’s fascinating the amount of time that people waste just because they don’t know how to properly manage their time. Often business owners will hire VAs to help them organize and manage their time, so it is essential that you know how to balance and regulate your own time, as well as theirs. Although it’s a simple problem to solve, most people have no clue where to begin. Today I am sharing with you a few tips you can follow to make the best use of your time and be more productive so you can excel at being a Virtual Assistant:

1.Set clear goals and priorities. It's essential to identify what tasks are most important to your business and prioritize them accordingly. Set clear goals and make a plan to achieve them.

2.Use a calendar. Use a calendar to keep track of appointments, deadlines, and other important dates. You can use a physical calendar or an electronic one like Google Calendar. Put everything on your calendar, from personal, to social, to spiritual, to business. Block out time in chunks and focus only on that item and then move on to the next.

3.Create a to-do list. A to-do list is a great way to keep track of tasks that need to be completed. Prioritize tasks by importance and tackle them one by one. Limit your to-do list to 3 items so you don’t feel overwhelmed or disappointed when you can’t complete everything on the list.

4.Eliminate distractions. Minimize distractions in your work environment by turning off your phone, closing unnecessary tabs on your computer, and avoiding social media during work hours. Close your door and put a sign up so your family members or roommates know that you do not want to be disturbed.

5.Take breaks. Taking short breaks throughout the day can help you stay focused and productive. Consider taking a walk, doing some stretches, or meditating during your breaks. If you don’t stop to take breaks, you can lose focus and likely start making mistakes.

6.Use time management tools. There are numerous time management tools available to help you stay organized and focused. Some popular options include Trello, Asana, and clockify.

7.Remember to breathe. It is important to stay calm and take things one bite at a time. There will always be more things to do. Try as best you can to stick to the plan you have created, but remember you can always move things around.

By following these tips, you can improve your time management skills and become more productive in your business and working in your client’s businesses too.
