Three Ways To Guarantee A Freedom Lifestyle While Running An Online Business

While the laptop lifestyle might appear to be all puppies and rainbows on Instagram, the reality is that often it can be far from that. Yes, you get to work from anywhere that has Wi-Fi and set your own hours, but it is easy to get caught up in client work, bills to pay, business planning, etc. When I started my business, I was surprised at how fast the time passed during the day and before I knew it, I hadn’t even stopped to eat, exercise, or just take a quick break.

Being a new entrepreneur comes with many new things to learn, especially when it comes to business. All of a sudden the freedom life that I had been dreaming of was no where to be seen. While it took awhile to get into a flow, I learned a lot in the process. Below are three tips to ensure that you are living the Freedom Lifestyle that you left your 9-5 for.

1. Set boundaries and stick to them. Boundaries are so important both with clients and yourself. Try to have specific working hours that you stick to so it doesn’t feel like you are always working. Make a schedule in a planner or on an online calendar. Carve out time for client work, business strategy, exercise, and breaks. Map out your days and weeks and if something else comes up, remember to make time for yourself.

2. Use electronic systems to streamline your business. Examples are Asana, Trello, Basecamp, Team Gantt, Microsoft Project, Canva, Dubsado, Hootsuite, etc. These tools can help you organize your clients, workflow, and social media planning. You can schedule and automate so that you are saving time in the long run.

3. Batch your work and content creation. I choose Sundays to create my content for the week. Some people sit down and create it for the month. After it is created, I upload it into Hootsuite and schedule each post so it is released when I want during the week without having to do a thing. Batching helps you save time so you can focus on other aspects of your business. That way you do not need to sit each morning trying figure out what and when to post.

As you become busier in your business, these three items will become more important to help you stay on schedule and be organized. To give you an idea, the tools I use are Asana for Project Management with clients, Hootsuite for social media scheduling, a calendar/planner that I write things down in, and Canva for creating my social media posts.
